Green Door Holistics approaches health and wellness from a holistic perspective. The core principles of Ayurveda include:
1. Individual Uniqueness. Each person is distinct, and assumptions should not be made. It is the primary responsibility of an Ayurvedic Practitioner to comprehend: 1) the unique energetic constitution of the individual, 2) the specific manner in which health issues have arisen, and 3) the energetic implications of the various therapeutic options available. The integration of these three elements allows us to uncover the inherent ability of the mind and body to promote natural healing.
2. Interconnection of Mind, Body, and Spirit. Ayurveda recognizes the holistic nature of individuals, emphasizing the link between the body, mind, and spirit. It is vital to acknowledge that changes in one area will invariably influence the others.
3. You Are What You Digest. The majority of health issues and diseases can often be traced back to the digestive system. Factors such as digestive health, dietary choices, and eating habits play a crucial role in overall well-being. It is essential to recognize the profound impact food has on our health. Ayurveda emphasizes understanding the qualities of food rather than counting calories or tracking macronutrients. This understanding is vital for effectively addressing the underlying causes of health conditions. As Hippocrates famously stated, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.”
4. Five-Sense Therapy. Taste. Smell. Sight. Hearing. Touch. These are all ways in which we receive energies into the mind and body. Keeping harmonious habits and routines are vital to maintaining optimal health and wellbeing.

Yoga is an ancient practice that involves physical postures (asanas), breath control (pranayama), and meditation to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. It originated in India and has evolved into various styles and modalities. Here are descriptions and benefits of three popular yoga modalities: Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin.

Hatha:
Hatha Yoga is a broad category that encompasses most yoga styles. It is often used to describe a gentle, basic form of yoga that involves holding poses for a few breaths and focusing on alignment and breath control.
Vinyasa:
Also known as "flow" yoga, Vinyasa involves a dynamic sequence of poses linked with breath. Each movement is synchronized with an inhale or exhale.
Yin:
A slow-paced style of yoga with poses that are held for longer periods, typically three to five minutes or more. It targets the deep connective tissues, such as ligaments, joints, and fascia, rather than focusing on muscle strength.

Purvakarma: (Preparatory Phase - typically 1 week)
This stage prepares the body for the main Panchakarma treatments. It includes:

  • Snehana (Oleation): Application of herbal oils or ghee internally and externally to loosen toxins and prepare the tissues.

  • Swedana (Sweating): Steam therapy or other methods to induce sweating, further aiding in the elimination of toxins and enhancing the effectiveness of subsequent treatments.

Panchakarma: (Main Detoxification Phase - typically 1-2 weeks)
This is the core of the Panchakarma process and involves the five therapeutic actions:

  • Vamana (Therapeutic Vomiting): Induced vomiting to expel excess Kapha (mucus and toxins) from the stomach.

  • Virechana (Purgation): Use of herbal laxatives to cleanse the intestines and remove excess Pitta (bile and toxins).

  • Basti (Medicated Enemas): Introduction of herbal oils or decoctions into the rectum to cleanse and balance Vata (air and space elements) and remove toxins from the colon.

  • Nasya (Nasal Therapy): Administration of medicated oils or powders through the nasal passages to clear out excess Kapha and toxins from the head and throat.

  • Raktamokshana (Bloodletting): A less commonly used method that involves removing a small amount of blood to detoxify and balance the body's humors. Note: This is not performed at Green Door Holistics.

Paschatkarma: (Post-Treatment Care - typically 1 week)
This stage focuses on restoring balance and strength after the primary detoxification procedures. It includes:

  • Diet and Lifestyle Recommendations: Following a specific diet and lifestyle regimen tailored to the individual's constitution and the results of the Panchakarma treatment.

  • Rejuvenation Therapy: Additional treatments such as Rasayana (rejuvenation therapy) to support recovery and maintain the benefits of the detoxification process.

  • Gradual Reintroduction to Normal Activities: Careful reintegration into regular life to ensure that the body maintains the newly achieved balance and continues to benefit from the treatment.

Each stage is essential for the effectiveness of Panchakarma, ensuring a comprehensive approach to detoxification and rejuvenation.
